Scope of work is to replace two elements on current electric tankless water heater. Scope of work includes turning off main water supply to unit.
Arrived at property and water has been turned off and drained. Electric is turned off at breaker. Inspected and removed current elements to tankless unit and damage to elements can be seen. Replaced both elements and restored water to unit. Turned on electrical to tankless unit once water is at full pressure. Adjusted temperature to 125° and tested. Informed homeowner of preferred setting for tankless model and flow rate of unit. Panel is secured on unit and system is working properly.
Upon arrival, I identified water spraying from the cold water stop valve under the kitchen sink. Investigation revealed the CPVC piping was connected using compression fittings—an improper installation method for plastic pipe that commonly leads to leaks.
I removed the faulty compression-style stop valve and cut out the damaged section of pipe, which showed internal cracking from the improper compression fitting. I then installed a new stop valve using the proper glued connection method and tested for leaks to verify proper functionality.
During system pressurization, I discovered the whole home water pressure was reading 100 PSI, which exceeds the recommended range of 45-75 PSI. I also tested the thermal expansion tank and found it to be faulty, likely compromised by the excessive system pressure. The remaining stop valves under the kitchen sink are still using improper compression fittings on CPVC pipe.
I provided estimates for replacing the remaining kitchen sink stop valves pree
Relit the water heater, made sure it stayed lit.

Water heater should reach full temperature in about an hour.
Noticed the thermal expansion tank isn’t really supported, provided an estimate to rework.
Water pressure okay at 60 psi.
