# Water Heater Leak Detection and Assessment Responded to service call for abnormally high water consumption indicated by elevated utility billing. Upon arrival, conducted thorough inspection of water heater system to identify source of water loss. Inspection revealed an electric storage tank water heater with significant corrosion and active leakage. Heavy rust staining and oxidation observed on exterior tank surface, with vertical streaking patterns indicating prolonged water seepage from upper pipe fittings and connections. Corrosion damage concentrated on left side of unit with additional deterioration visible at lower connection points. Examined pressure relief valve assembly and associated brass fittings, which displayed advanced tarnishing and patina consistent with extended moisture exposure. Pressure gauge reading documented in lower range. Bottom connections showed oxidation on brass components and evidence of water migration around threaded joints and adapters. Assessmen
Responded to service call for toilet not flushing properly and making unusual noise. Upon inspection, identified worn flapper valve and deteriorated flush mechanism components with visible mineral buildup throughout tank interior. Disassembled and examined fill valve assembly, flush valve, and overflow tube system. Found cloudy, mineral-laden water indicating potential supply line issues contributing to accelerated component wear. Documented existing conditions including sediment deposits on tank interior surfaces and discolored water. Inspected mounting hardware, water supply line connections, and shutoff valve for proper operation. Provided customer with photographic documentation of internal tank components and recommended replacement of flapper valve, fill valve assembly, and complete flush mechanism to restore proper flushing function and eliminate noise. Advised tank cleaning to remove mineral deposits and sediment accumulation affecting performance.
Inspected and documented corroded cast iron pipe section located in crawl space beneath wooden floor structure. The affected pipe showed significant deterioration with damaged insulation wrapping, visible corrosion, and accumulated debris. Photographed existing conditions including the corroded cast iron section, surrounding plumbing infrastructure, flexible ductwork, and structural support elements to document pre-replacement state and provide customer with visual assessment of necessary repairs.
Installed pressure reducing valve (PRV) on main water supply line and thermal expansion tank in attic space to protect plumbing system from excessive water pressure and thermal expansion. Replaced aged, deteriorating foil-wrapped HVAC ductwork insulation that showed significant cracking and discoloration. Mounted new PRV assembly with copper piping connections and installed expansion tank to code specifications among existing wooden joists and insulation. All installations completed with proper support, clearances, and integration with existing plumbing infrastructure.
