Low Water Flow Fixed in a 1959 Chamblee Home

Low Water Heater Flow Fixed

Water Filtration Case Study

  • Client Location: Keswick Park, Chamblee, GA
  • The Problem: Low water flow at several faucets and showerheads in a 1959 split-level home. Cleaning the faucet aerators helped for a while, but the debris kept coming back.
  • The Solution: Master Plumber Ryan Hanson installed a polypropylene sediment pre-filter followed by a HALO H2 Zero Ultimate whole-home carbon filtration and conditioning system, with a bypass for easy maintenance.
  • Key Result: Full flow restored at every fixture, cleaner and better-tasting water, and a 10-year warranty, all for $2,900 total.

The Challenge: Low Flow That Kept Coming Back

A family in the Keswick Park neighborhood of Chamblee was tired of weak water flow in their 1959 split-level home. Several faucets had slowed to a trickle.

They were already doing the right things:

  • Cleaning the Aerators: They knew how to unscrew the aerators from their sink faucets and rinse out the dirt and debris.
  • The Problem Spread: Then they noticed the showerheads weren't running at full flow either.

Cleaning each fixture by hand was a temporary fix for a whole-house problem. So they called True Plumbing, Heating & Cooling to find a lasting solution.

The Diagnosis: Time for Prevention, Not More Cleaning

Licensed Master Plumber Ryan Hanson (MP210510) came out to look at the recurring issue.

Here is what he found:

  • Debris in the Supply: Rust, dirt, and sand were traveling through the water lines and collecting at the fixtures.
  • Every Fixture Affected: Because the debris entered with the main water supply, every faucet and showerhead in the house was at risk.
  • The Homeowners Had Done Their Part: Their aerator cleaning was managing the symptoms, but it could never stop the source.

Ryan's recommendation was simple. Stop the debris where the water enters the home, before it ever reaches a faucet.

The Solution: A Two-Stage Whole-Home Filtration System

Ryan designed a two-stage system that treats every drop of water entering the home.

  1. Stage One, a Polypropylene Pre-Filter: Catches larger debris like rust, dirt, and sand before it can travel any further.
  2. Stage Two, a Whole-Home Carbon Filter: The family chose the HALO H2 Zero Ultimate for its 10-year warranty and excellent water conditioning.

The HALO system does three jobs at once:

  • Removes Chlorine: Premium-grade carbon filters out chlorine from city water.
  • Prevents Scale: HALO's ION conditioning process helps reduce scale buildup throughout the home's plumbing system.
  • Improves Taste: The result is clean, great-tasting water at every tap.

Ryan installed both filters in the basement mechanical room, right after the main water shutoff valve. He also added a bypass valve, which we recommend on every install. A bypass lets you change filters or service the system without shutting off water to the whole house.

Our technicians cleaned the existing aerators and showerheads after installation.

  • A Low-Maintenance System: Other than changing the polypropylene pre-filter every two years (or sooner if flow drops), the system is virtually maintenance-free. The bypass makes those changes quick and easy.
  • Protected for 10 Years: The 10-year HALO manufacturer warranty is honored by True Plumbing, Heating & Cooling.
  • One Clear Price: Warranty, materials, labor, and filters came to $2,900 total.

These homeowners were doing everything they could to keep their faucets flowing. Stopping the debris at the source means they can finally stop chasing it fixture by fixture.
